Female League : Naija Ratels, Adamwa Queens secure Promotion To Elite Class

Naija Ratels and Adamawa Queens of Yola have gained promotion to the Nigeria Women Football League,NWFL following their stands on the NWFL Championship Playoff table at the end of the championship.

Naija Ratels finished 10 points to place first while Adamawa Queens earned the second qualification ticket with 8 points after playing a goalless draw on the last day of the championship held at the Aguyi Ironsi Barracks in Abuja.

Speaking at the end of the championship, Chairman of Naija Ratel, Mr. Paul Edeh expressed satisfaction over the performance of his girls.
He said it was as a result of hardwork and consistency on the part of the Management and the players.
Edeh disclosed that girls from Benue State have been in camp in Abuja preparing hard for the competition hence he was not surprised that they excel.

He said their target is to take the elite division by surprise next season by winning the prestigious female league and go ahead to represent Nigeria in the newly introduced African Club Championship for Women.
his rival the Team Manager of the Adamawa Queens, Emmanuel Zira also praised his girls for winning the ticket saying their performance was scintillating.

He said the Adamawa government has supported the team in terms of welfare and prompt payment of salaries.
This he said was responsible for their performance adding they earn the same allowance with their male counterparts in Adamawa United who play in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
He also said their target was not to add to the number of teams in the female premier league but to make an impression.

“We are going to into the market to get quality and mature players to beef up the team before the commencement of the next Women football season

Meanwhile, Galant Queens of Zaria kept their relegation hope to the last 45 minutes of the last day of the championship beaten Kwara Ladies 3 goals to nothing to keep their hope alive.
