Former Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Kano Pillars FC, and Crown FC of Ogbomosho have arrived the ancient town of Ijebu Ode, for the 4th edition of Gold Cup pre-season tournament.

The reigning Gold Cup champion joined other Nigerian top league teams ahead of the tournament scheduled to take place at the Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium from Friday 25th November to Saturday 4th December 2016.

The Pyramid side who recently named ex-Shooting Stars of Ibadan coach, Kadiri Ikhana, will begin their quest in the country’s most prestigious pre-season event on Saturday afternoon (4pm) against Nationwide League One (NLO) side FC Ebedei.

Crown coach, Osho Fatai, will be leading the Ajilete Warriors against newly promoted Remo Stars FC in one of the Group B contest scheduled for Saturday evening.

Meanwhile, Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Niger Tornadoes Football Club of Minna and Nationwide League One (NLO) side, FC Ebedei of Sagamu, will be seeking a bright start to the fourth edition of Gold Cup pre-season tournament when they face off in the tourney’s official opener Friday morning (8.am) at Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu Ode.

Tornadoes gaffer, Bala Abubakar, said in Ijebu Ode that the team is ready and competitive ahead of the tie against the mobile Oliseh Boys.

“I’m aware FC Ebedei is a very good side, with young boys and very tricky. They have very good players so we have to be careful, but I have told my players they must be prepared to give their best. My players are determined to do the job,” the merchant tactician said.

Ebedei coach Tunde Oladeinde, stated that they are going to give Tornadoes a run for their money as they will be going all out for an upset and winning the contest.

In other fixtures fixed for Friday evening, Enyimba International FC of Aba, will battle Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi at pitch A (4.pm), while Sunshine Stars International FC of Akure, will trade tackle with mobile Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club of Lagos at pitch B (4.pm).

However, former Secretary General of Nigeria Football Federation, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi, will perform the traditional kick off of the prestigious pre-season tournament.
