Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote has mandated his boys to commence renovation work at Moshood Abiola stadium Abuja, within the next 14days.
In fulfilment of his vision to get four National stadia in top shape before the end of March 2020, Nigeria minister of Youth and sports, Sunday Dare is happy to announce that arrangements have been finalised with multi billionaire business tycoon, Alhaji Aliko Dangote to take over the total refurbishment of the Moshood Abiola stadium, Abuja.
The renovation work which starts in two weeks, will take care of the playing and training pitches, the flood lights, the sitting areas which include popular and VIP sections among others.
This is in furtherance of the ministry’s decision to get private sector participation in grassroot sports development and facility upgrade.
Speaking on Nigeria’s bid to host the 2020 FIFA Under 20-Womens world cup, the Oyo state born sport administrator said his ministry and the Nigeria football federation are in constant touch with
FIFA to know the next line of action.
He said FIFA is looking at a single city hosting right which means Lagos might just get the nod as they are the only state that can come close to meeting FIFA’S requirement wthin the shortest possible time.
As part of the requirements for hosting, FIFA have also highlighted some other conditions that Nigeria must meet between now and January 2020.
These conditions according to the minister are seriously being looked into by the Sports ministry but beyond that, the priority of this government is to atleast get four National stadia refurbished and restored back to their best state before March, 2020 Dare concluded.
The final camping exercise will hold in Kisarazu City, Japan the organic city ahead of the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare last week signed the MoU with the Mayor of Kisarazu City, Yoshikuni Watanabe signalling direction of early preparation for games.
