N5m Prize Money Up For Grab At Davnotch Open Tennis

A total sum of N5million is up for grab at the first edition of Davnotch national open tennis championship serving off at the tennis courts of the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Thursday, May 13th 2021.

 

According to the tournament supervisor and secretary of the Nigeria Tennis Federation NTF, Mr. Abulude Dayo, the Men’s singles winner will go home with the sum of N.5m while the runner up will pocket the sum of N.25m.

 

The semifinalists will receive N100, 000 each, while the quarterfinalists will get N75,000. The second and first round losers will go home with N50,000 and N35,000 respectively.
Winners in the doubles category will get N100,000, runners up N75,000, semifinalists N50,000, quaterfinalists N35,000 while first round losers will collect N20,000.

 

Abulude said the Wheelchair tennis players Men’s and Ladies singles winners will pocket N150,000.
The runners up N100,000, semifinalists N75,000, quarterfinalists N50,000 while first round losers will earn N35,000.
He said the qualifying rounds will start on Thursday, May 14th to 16th with the maid draw beginning on May, Friday, 17th.

The championship he disclosed will end on Saturday, May 22nd in both singles and doubles.
He thanked the sponsor, Emmanuel Ochei for coming up with the championship which will help put the players in shape ahead of the Davis Cup competition involving Nigeria in June.
