Naija Super 8 Is An All Expenses Paid Tournament, Lobi Stars Don’t Need Government Money To Participate

By James Shamange

The 2022/2023 NFF Football calendar is left with only the Federation Cup final to come to an end. For Lobi Stars, the season ends in the Super 6 in Lagos where they generously donated points to others and ended up the tail of the tournament.

Instead of coming back to start a rebuilding process for next season while waiting for the Governor’s pronouncement on the leadership of the club, Dominic Iorfa who is an expert in corrupting every Deputy Governor has already infiltrated Sam Ode, who is blindly looking for money for him for an already all expenses paid invitational tournament.

According to CEO of the organizers Flykite Productions Mr Jenkins Alumona, the off season tournament is jointly sponsored by MTN Nigeria, Pepsi, Dstv, Super Sports and Moniepoint. Each participating club gets 3 million Naira per game, which is more than enough to take the bills of the club at the tournament, besides, the overall winner will take home 25 Million Naira, while the runners up will smile home with nine Million Naira.

The Naija Super 8 is not a preseason tournament where you test the newly recruited players, it’s off season and inconsequential to Lobi Stars, given the condition of the club at this point. Even if the club will be participating, it shouldn’t be at the expense of the Government of Benue State. There is no budgetary provision for that.

The season has ended, the Governor has just constituted two assets recovery committees, Iorfa should calm down and account for for the club assets he sold, especially the 2 buses he sold recently without board approval and not be running here and there in the name of an off season tournament which doesn’t have any value addition to the club.

The Club is already facing a lot of challenges, from litigations, non payment of staff for several months which led to the Head Coach abandoning the club and so many other allegations of maladministration that needs to be looked in to by a neutral person.

Governor Hyacinth Alia should by now ask Iorfa to step aside and clear himself over the illegal sale of the club buses before the assets recovery committee among other issues as a matter of urgency.
