In a thrilling conclusion to the 2024 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) season, Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors emerged as runners-up, capping off an impressive campaign with a hard-fought victory against Kebbi United BSC. The intense match ended in a 3-3 stalemate during regular time, with the Anambra Warriors ultimately prevailing in a penalty shootout.
Coach Obinna Nwagba’s team had earlier announced their intentions with a resounding win against former champions Kada BSC on the first day of the Super Four playoffs. Although they suffered a setback in their second game against eventual champions Kebbi BSC, the Anambra Warriors showed remarkable resilience to bounce back and secure the second position.
Captain Gabriel Chinweze expressed his delight at the team’s achievement, acknowledging the setback in the second game but highlighting the team’s determination to finish strong. He extended his gratitude to the Anambra Beach Soccer Association Board, led by sole sponsor Professor Victor Madubuko, the fans, and all contributors to the team’s success.
The impressive performance of goalkeeper Basorun Festus was recognized with the Best Goalkeeper award, a testament to his outstanding skills and dedication throughout the season.
