NFF PRESIDENT AMAJU PINNICK, SHEHU DIKKO AND OTHERS CASE RESURFACE AGAIN IN BEREKETE FAMILY

Agency Report

Chairman of Economic and Financial Crime Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu on Wednesday invited some petitioners against the alleged misappropriation of funds by some top officials of the Nigeria Football Federation NFF.

The petitioners reopened the matter before the Human Rights Radio 101.1 FM on Wednesday with the broadcasting station calling for Magu to review some of the cases already dismissed by the Federal Court of Appeal.

The EFCC boss following the plea later invited the petitioners led by former NFF Head of Protocol, Mr. Tunde Aderibigbe and Atlanta Olympic gold medalist, Emmanuel Babayaro, James Peter a former Coach of Nigeria National team and others to his office by 12pm Wednesday.

The petitioners had accused the Ministry of Justice headed by the Attorney General of the Federation Justice Abubakar Malami of trying to sweep the alleged monumental fraud running into millions of dollars under the carpet.

Olaribigbe who said he has so many facts and documents on how money was laundered into various foreign accounts explained that they would not allow the alleged offenders to go unpunished in the interest of the country.

“If truly the present government under President Mohammed Buhari is truly fighting corruption then this is the real case of corruption and Attorney General is discharging the case against the present NFF President Amaju Pinnick and his cohort and now the current government can’t set example with the NFF that they are really fighting corruption” he said.

The Human Rights Radio Station started the exposé on Monday and has promised to reach out to relevant critical stakeholders in this matter including the Presidency, EFCC chairman Ibrahim Magu as well as CAF and FIFA presidents in a bold effort to unearth the rot in Nigerian football.

NANF president Harrison Jalla, former Super Eagles coach James Peters, NFF director Tunde Aderibigbe and former international Emmanuel Babayaro have presented damning evidence of corruption by the leadership of the NFF in the past five years.

“The corruption in the NFF is mind boggling, a charade which must be stopped if football is to develop in this country,” said Aderibigbe on ‘Brekete Family’, radio station.

“This is everybody’s fight because Nigeria football if well managed could be a big employer of labour as is the case around the world,” said Babayaro.

The expose will run all through this week on the Human Rights Radio with ‘Ordinary President’ Ahmed Isah vowing to get to the bottom of the corruption that has overtaken the national sport.

Senior NFF officials led by President Amaju Pinnick are being investigated by both anti-corruption agencies, the EFCC and the ICPC.
