The NPFL Club Secretaries’ Forum heartily felicitate with Nigeria’s sports icons who were over the weekend found worthy of the National merit awards in different categories by the outgone President Mohammadu Buhari

Leading the pack in the sports sector was the indefatigable former Minister of Sports Sunday Dare alongside the architect of modern football business and owner of Remo Stars and Betnaija Kunle Soname who were conferred with the National Merit awards as Commander of the order of Niger CON and Officer of the Federal Republic OFR respectively as well as former Nigeria Football Federation President and member FIFA Executive Council Amaju Melvin Pinnick who also bagged the award of Officer of the Federal Republic OFR.

In honour also was Super Eagles of Nigeria and Napoli FC goal machine Victor Osimhen who was decorated with the award of member of the Federal Republic MFR, joined in the felicitation is the two time commissioner, former board member of Nigeria Football Federation and Chairman Rivers United Barr. Chris Green who was honoured by Rivers State Government with the Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State DSSRS award.

These awards did not just come from the vacuum but a true reflection of the quality of the individuals carefully and meritoriously chosen in recognition of their contributions to sports development, especially football and above all to National life.

We urge the honorees to take the awards as a spur to give more to sports and nation building and shouldn’t allow complacency to set in as the awards are not the end of their service life.

We say a thunderous congratulations to all of them with best wishes of long life in good health to do more for football development.
