Para Sports Federation Election :  A New Dawn For Para-Soccer. .. Abdulmumin Adisa

Para-Soccer is set to experience a new dawn these is coming from the newly-elected President of the Nigeria Para-soccer Federation, Abidemi Abdulmumin promising to take the sport to greater height in the Nigeria.

The president who came to the board as Sponsor/Philanthropist emerged winner as the President of the Federation with 10 votes unopposed.

The election was conducted under the guidance of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development inside the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Friday.

Also elected as the vice-president coach Monsur Abdullah who stood as the technical representative, emerged  with 10 votes unopposed as well

Abdulmumin declared  he would the follow the steps of the immediate past President Lawan Didi, to develop the Para-Soccer in the country. he said

“Didi is the founder of Para-soccer in Nigeria, he loves the game and his passion for the sport; I will work with him to take the sport to greater height.

“I promise better welfare to Athletes, good exposure and more competitions to make the sport busy and active.

“Sponsorship has been the major challenge affecting the development of sports in Nigeria. We look for sponsors to support our activities.

“I must work to develop the sport in Nigeria and the sport will be known in Africa and the World,” he said.

Seven Para Sports Federations held their election into various  positions,  but only six Federations were conducted on Friday.

The Federations are Para athletics, Para Powerlifting, Para-soccer, Para swimming and Sitting Volleyball.


Meanwhile, Mr Amobi Chikwendu, the immediate past President of Para Athletic Federation of Nigeria, has emerged as the new President of the Nigeria Para Swimming Federation.

The newly elected president polled seven votes to defeat Emoghavwe Ochuko, his opponents, who had three votes.
In the Vice President election, Bose Kaffo won with seven votes, while her opponent Peter Agbado, had three votes.
Chikwendu said he came to Para Swimming to develop the sport in the country.
According to him “I have tried my best in Para Athletics and I will do much more in Para Swimming to excel.
“We will develop the sports and bring it to an enabling height that is a promise to the country.

“I decided to switch my portfolio from Para Athletics to Para Swimming and I have done better in Para Swimming,” he said.
