Pinnick Third Term Hanging

By Our Reporter

The powerful Northern Caucus that gathered in Kano this past week has ended the third term ambition of NFF President Amaju Pinnick as it has resolved to fully support a candidate from the North for the NFF Presidency come the next Elections.

This will effectively also put an end to the Presidential ambitions of other Southern aspirants like 1st Vice President Seyi Akinwunmi and Amanze Uchegbulam.

Individually and in small groups, the critical Stakeholders from the North have made it very clear they are totally opposed to Pinnick continuing as NFF President.

The pulse at the Kano gathering is that they want a clean break of eight years of Pinnick at the helm of Nigeria Football and also maintained that the Presidency of the football federation return to the North.

“Pinnick’s third term bid is dead on arrival,” a State FA Chairman from North Central stated categorically.

“Even though there was no big meeting of the Northern delegates, the general position among those Stakeholders who were in Kano is that Pinnick’s bid for a third term in office won’t fly.”

“Pinnick will cease to be NFF President after next month,” asserted another FA Chairman from North West.

An FA Chairman from North East explained that the Northern Caucus has yet to endorse a candidate from the North to replace Pinnick as Stakeholders are still consulting.

“It is possible that a consensus candidate from the North could emerge after the NFF Emergency General Assembly in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, on August 16,” he informed.

Ibrahim Gusau, Shehu Dikko, Ahmed Yusuf ‘Fresh’, Adam Mouktar Mohammed, Musa Amadu, Abba Yola are among Several persons from the North who have been linked to the NFF hot seat.

Interestingly, Pinnick rode on this Northern Caucus, which accounts for 24 votes in a 44-person NFF Elective Congress, to first be elected in 2014 and then re-elected four years
