President Buhari orders immediate payment of furious Falcons

Take this promise to the bank…we shall pay you within 48 hours. Trust me

*Summoned NFF for explanations

Embarrassed Nigerian Presidency has summoned the leadership of the factional Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) led by Mr Amaju Pinnick following a concerted protest march by the country’s senior national women football team, the Super Falcons, which culminated in the invasion of the National Assembly in a most strategic gambit which delivered them attention and a presidential directive to the Ministers of Finance and Sports to pay them immediately.

The Falcons have been pressing for their entitlements since they won the women’s AFCON about a fortnight ago in Cameroon. Rather than be assuaged, they were insulted by the officials and threatened. This infused their protest with verve.

Earlier Wednesday, the lasses proceeded from the National Assembly to the State House where President Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, addressed the team. He promised they will be paid within 48 hours.

The furious Falcons led by skipper Rita Chikwelu displayed various placards to kick against the shabby treatment they have been subjected to by the bankrupt NFF.

Summon of NFF, Ministry officials: Angered by the international embarrassment, the presidency on Wednesday summoned the officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Ministry of Sports to a meeting. Secretary General, Dr Mohammed Sanusi represented the insolvent organisation. The girls out of anger had taken to the streets to lay their protest to the appropriate quarters.

We’ll pay you on or before Friday: Kyari appealed to the African champions to return to their hotel, assuring them that the government would resolve the matter within 48 hours.
The girls, however, returned to their hotel after the Chief of Staff to President Buhari, Abba Kyari, while addressing them promised to pay up what they are owed in two days.

Information reaching www.gongnews.net revealed that the Ministers of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun and her Youth and Sports counterpart, Solomon Dalung, were ordered to work out the modalities to immediately pay the girls. The ministry id to pay the monies thus meaning the NFF will not participate in the process as a sign of the lack of confidence by the Federal Government.
