Responsibilities Of Estate Surveyors And Valuers Are Enormous — Obot Akpan

The Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, Akwa Ibom State Branch, ESV Obot Akpan has stated that it is only the professionals in the Estate Management that can handle estate survey and valuation for people in the state.

He said it is very wrong to see people engage the services of those he termed as quacks to survey and value their properties.

The Institution boss stated this when he fielded questions from journalists in his office in Uyo recently.

He said, engagement of experts in the real estate management is to provide adequate information and also play advisory role to estate owners as well as the government at any level.

ESV Akpan maintained, “you need an Estate Surveyor and Valuer to guide you, give you the necessary information concerning your property”.

” Most cases, people rush to sell or buy properties without knowing the value of such properties, but if the services of a Professional Estate Surveyor and Valuer are required, the parties will not be at a loss”.

The Chairman said, this year’s World Valuation Day was successful as Akwa Ibom State Branch also participated by hosting a radio Programme and a visit to the Ibom Airport Development Company to create awareness on the activities and programmes of the state branch.

He added that this year’s theme, ” Importance of Assets Valuation in Financial Stability” was apt, stressing that the radio Programme afforded them opportunity to educate the public on the need for proper valuation of properties.

He noted, ” Estate Survey and Valuation is one of the exclusive professions which it first major responsibility is land, so we advice that properties should be professionally surveyed and valued”.

He acknowledged the good working relationship with his members, describing it as rubust and supportive.
