SSFCL 2024: Smashers, Idia Royals Maintain Unbeaten Run As Esther Sandy Outshines Other Batters

Smashers Cricket Club (CC) of Uyo, the current South-South Female Cricket League title defenders, are determined to retain the league 2024 trophy after going undefeated in their first three games. India Royals also maintained their perfect record in the Benin Zone after defeating Adolor Amazon by 9 wickets.

Smashers upset Bayelsa-based Dazagon by a massive 233 runs on Sunday to take the lead in the Port Harcourt Zone.

Smashers won the toss and decided to bat first. They made a record performance in their first inning, the total score was 263/4 (263 runs for the loss of four wickets). Dazagon chase stopped at 30/10 as they were no match for the Smashers, who featured the likes of Esther Sandy, Blessing Etim, Sarah Etim, and Lilian Ude.

Smashers CC Esther Sandy got a standing ovation and a Player of the Match award after she played 111 runs off 72 balls. Esther, a national team top-order batter was delighted with her performance and assured cricket fans of improving as the tournament continues.

“I have worked on myself and I went to the game to do it. It is just the tip of the iceberg. I am comfortable as an opening batter both in my club and for Nigeria.” The elegant cricket who looks like a runway model told our reporter.

The league continues next weekend in both Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and Benin, Edo State.
