Super Eagles Failed Again, Play Out Goalless Draw With Cameroon

By Editor
Super Eagles managed a goalless draw against arch-rival the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in their second friendly match played yesterday at Vienna, Austria.
The Nigerians who lost 1-0 to their Cameroonian counterparts last Friday’s defeat at the same venue raised the level of their game but were unable to avenge the defeat.
Coach Gernot Rohr will have to do a lot of work on the team if he hopes to qualify for the World Cup finals in Qatar in 2022 as the second round of qualifiers begins in September.
The Super Eagles did not display any creativity that could have seen them beat the Cameroonians who looked weary in the second encounter.
Cameroon has a very tired team and it is reflected on the field, where Nigeria has been with the ball in the opponent’s half and playing close to the opponent’s area.
In the last minutes Nigeria tried to score after managing to gain possession, but were unable to penetrate the Cameroonians defenceline.
The two teams will return home to begin preaparations for the World Cup qualifiers with Nigeria aiming to take its pound of flesh back at the Africa Cup of Nation AFCON finals next year January in Cameroon.
