*NASS shut down for Buhari

Members of the senior women football national team, the Super Falcons, have stormed the National Assembly this morning to continue their protest against the non-payment of their allowances by the Nigerian Football Federation.
The team won the 10th edition of the African Women championship just held in Cameroon. It was the 8th edition Nigeria is winning the continent’s biggest competition.
The victorious team members have been protesting from the confines of their Agura hotel in Abuja since Tuesday last week when they arrived from Yaounde.
The ladies are hoping that President Muhammadu Buhari, who is due to visit the National Assembly today to present the estimates of the 2017 budget to lawmakers, will see them and show pity on their plight.
They stormed the gates of the National Assembly early today with placards. Some of their placards read: “We are your children, pity us”; “Let us respect women”; “female football deserves respect.”
Meanwhile, access into the National Assembly is Herculean. All three entry gates have been shut by security operatives. The action is preparatory to President Muhammadu Buhari’s anticipated visit to the National Assembly to present the estimates of the 2017 budget to the joint session of the Senate and the House of Representatives.
Members of staff have struggled to go into their offices as they have been denied access and all other organisations rendering services within the complex have been shut out. Long queues of vehicles and crowds of anxious people wishing to have business within can’t also go through.

Mr Albert Ogunlemi, an architect who saw the protest told www.gongnews.net “you see, these women struggled to bring honour to this nation and some folks who have no business managing our football is ridiculing them. How do we preach to the younger ones to sacrifice for the nation. This is the height of gross incompetence from the Buhari administration. What is Amaju Pinnick still doing there? Does he have eyes to know he should have resigned for failing?
Mrs Angela Igeniwari, a lawyer, dressed to head for the court, had to park her car, signalled the reporter and said, “I want to talk, please. The way these ladies are treated in ungodly. What if they were their daughters will they go through these pains after bringing honour to the nation? This is the height of senselessness. This happens when you use ministerial appointments to settle your political friends. What is Dalung and Pinnick doing? Have they not resigned?
Mrs Gbemisola Okoro, a civil servant said: “This is akin to a parent telling his child that there’s no school fee because he wasn’t expected to pass JAMB exams. Can they just leave the scene and go? They are a bundle of disgrace to this nation. A team that went to Cameroun as defending Champions? Sports minister does not even know the history of dominance of Super Falcons in Africa”.
