TAEKWONDO: AFRICA TO HOST ONLINE COURSE FOR CONTINENTAL TAEKWONDO FAMILY

World Taekwondo Africa [WTAF] is set to hold the first ever online educational course for the Africa Taekwondo family when the “Taekwondo Family” Online Workshop takes off between 24 and 26th July 2020.

According to World Taekwondo Africa, the event seeks to “To keep going through education and development during this period of Covid-19 where the whole world is locked down and all events and competitions worldwide are postponed or cancelled.”

Participants are expected to benefit immensely from the following topics to be covered during the event –     Global Membership Issues, Games Management, WT Kyurogi Competition Rules and regulations, WT Africa History, Taekwondo Ethics, Dojang Management and Safe Guarding.

A special Question and Answer session will also be held for the Competition Rules and Games Management, given the importance of this topics to coaches on the continent.

Resource persons for the innovative program include: Song Chul Kim [Chairman, World Taekwondo Referee Committee], Egypt’s Mohammed Shabaan [Chairman, World Taekwondo Games Management Committee], Azza Fouly [WT GMS Manager], Nigeria’s Chika Chukwumerije [WT Global Educator & WTAF Technical Member], Morocco’s Youssef Benali [WT Global Educator & WTAF Education Committee Chair], Egypt’s Walid Gouda [WT Global Educator & WTAF Education Vice Chair], Mahmoud Shalaby [WT Global Educator], Senegal’s Balla Dieye [World Taekwondo Games Management Committee Member] and Aly Nour [WTAF Referee Committee Chair].

The various workshops will be held in three languages – English, French and Arabic – so it caters to all practitioners on the continent, who stand to benefit a lot from the rich and extensive workshop.

President of World Taekwondo Africa and Vice President World Taekwondo, Gen. Ahmed Fouly, is expected to declare the event open when it takes off online, while the Secretary-General of World Taekwondo Africa, Nahdia Sohbi, has confirmed participation in all the sessions.

The program is in line with the recent moves by World Taekwondo and the continental World Taekwondo Africa body to engage taekwondo practitioners all over the world, who had felt the impact of the covid-19 pandemic.
