Team Nigeria Win Silver In  Commonwealth Games Qualifiers

Team Nigeria  win another medal in the ongoing International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Championships and Commonwealth Games qualifiers in Uzbekistan.

Joseph Edidiong won silver in Commonwealth Games qualifiers in the 67 kg category with a total lift of 295 kg on Friday, Edidiong who is currently placed 12th position at the World Championships.

Christopher Nwadei, Technical Director, Nigeria Weightlifting Federation, said Nigeria team will continue to win a medals anytime they compete in the championship.

“We came here to win and we must do the work properly to make the country proud,” he said.

Team Nigeria have recorded a total of the six medals since the beginning of the Championships.

The medals are follows : two gold , two Silver and two bronze..

Stella Kingsley won the first gold on Wednesday for the Commonwealth Championship qualifiers.

“She currently placed 5th position at the IWF World Championships in the 49 kg Category with a successful lift of Snatch 72 kg,

Adenike Olarinoye won one silver and two bronze medals at the IWF World Championships in the 55 kg Category with a lift of Snatch 90 kg, Clean/Jerk 113 kg and Total of 203 kg on Thursday.

The championship is a twin Championships, it is a qualification event for the forth Commonwealth games next year in Birmingham, England, and it also the IWF World Championships.
