Nigeria’s female basketball star, has said that they would not have been ready for the Olympic games had the International Olympics Committee agreed with the host nation to go ahead with an hosting plan for 2020 amid the scare and worry of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Akhator speaking in a chat with jounalists said the pandemic has taken the game out of everyone because a lot of the players are already out of shape been out of the game staying safe and that it wouldn’t be logical to even come out of such pandemic to start playing and practicing as everyone will have to start from square one afresh.”
“The thing was in as much as we are very excited to participate in the Olympic games, let’s say the Covid-19 plague ends this month we are still not ready, we ade still not ready to play because we are not in basketball mood immediatley after the news of the virus broke.
”We can’t just come back and start practicing immediately we have to start from square one and start practicing,” she said.
