Chairman of Mailantarki Care Football club of Abuja, Hon. Mailantarki believes that the U-23 National team will still qualify for U-23 AFCON Cup that will hold in Morocco later in the year.
He stated this after the team played a goalless draw againt Guinea at the MKO Abiola International Stadium on Wednesday,
According to the football administrator turned politician “I still have confidence in the team though we had a bad game today but I think the coaches need do some little changes and train well together, I believe they will surely have victory in the return leg on Tuesday”he said.
Still in the celebration of his team feat during the FCT FA Cup final against EFCC,
“We thank God for the victory, this is something that came exactly the day we are participating in the Gubernatorial election in Gombe under the NNPP platform, though we did not win another contender won the election.”
“I want to thank the entire management and the backroom staff for staying strong and handling the team while I was away. The boys won the FA cup in Abuja, that victory means a lot to me because it came the day I was expecting victory for myself and the entire people of the Gombe state, FCT, and Nigeria at large. The FA cup means a lot to me as it really put me in very good shape to even do better because the boys played very well and got a victory that day.”
Mailantarki and EFCC Football club will be representing FCT in the 2023 Federations Cup.
