We are short-changed despite not getting any alert yet -Super Falcons

Amaju Pinnick…where is our money despite short-changing us?

*Qualifier bonuses are not paid

*No one has received any alert yet despite NFF lies to have paid us

“Nobody among us has gotten anything yet almost 24 hours after the NFF claimed the Federal Government has paid them our monies. We are shocked when we read reports in the media that they claimed to have paid players even stating how much were paid. They told us we will be paid in Naira at the official CBN rate of N305 to $1 even when the current rate is N315 to $1. It is sad we could still be shortchanged by our own country and no inclusion of our qualification bonuses and allowances,” one of the players told www.gongnews.net Saturday morning.

Earlier on Friday, the Federal Government in a press statement released in Abuja claimed to have delivered the sum of N358 million to settle bonuses of the Super Falcons following their Wednesday’s protest to the National Assembly and the State House. However, the NFF through a statement confirmed receipt of the released sum and further claimed players and officials of the team have been paid their entitlement on Friday evening.

According to the NFF’s statement, each player got the sum of N5,494,500 plus the sum of N15,000 camp allowance and N20,000 transport allowance. Similarly, head coach Florence Omagbemi received N11,014,000, while assistant coaches Ann Chiejine, Perpetua Nkwocha and Bala Mohammed, alongside backroom staff, got N8,274,250 and the equipment manager was paid N4,114,625.

However, authoritative sources confirmed to www.gongnews.net that none of the players and officials have received a dime. Two, as we speak, the players and officials are underpaid even by what the Federal Government paid out. That is why the monies are still being reworked by those in charge.

When asked, one of the players said, “we always get our bonuses and allowances in dollars but now they claim they are paying us in Naira. Even at that, we are short paid in Naira! Of what they claim to be paying us, our qualifier bonuses are not paid. They are not even talking about reward for winning the trophy here. It is sad.”

“Why did the Federal Government gave the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to pay us? Our monies would have been safer and sure to reach us through the ministry than the NFF. All the hungry mosquitoes in the Glass House that had been starved of monies since will find some means to corner part of our money. The moment it was announced that the NFF will pay us, we started a second round of mourning because we know we will never get what was meant for us. It is sad but that is the truth,” said the player.

“Please, help us to thank the Federal Government for even what they have done but tell them, next time, they should direct the ministry to pay us. NFF? We shall wait to see what they will eventually pay us. Already, they are using exchange rate to rip us of N10.00 on every Dollar. Calculate now and see how much they have raked in.
