Nigeria will play the third place match of women\u2019s round robin tie at the ongoing 2024 BNP Paribas World Team Cup wheelchair tennis African qualification in Abuja.<\/p>\n

Nigeria suffered a 1-2 loss against South Africa at the semifinals match played on Saturday booking a third place spot against Tanzania on Sunday.<\/p>\n

www.gongnews.net reports that in the semifinals match of the round robin tie, Kafayat Omisore and Foluke Shodeinde lost in the singles. In the singles match played, Mariska Venter of South Africa beat Nigeria’s Shodeinde (6-1,6-0) and Kgothatso Montjane of South Africa beat Nigeria Omisore ( 6-0,6-0). However, Omisore and Shodeinde walk over against South Africa\u2019s Mariska Venter and Kgothatso Montjane of South Africa in the doubles events .<\/p>\n

www.gongnews.net can authoritatively reports that the Nigerian trio will play Tanzania in their third place match of the round robin tie on Sunday in the Women\u2019s and their men will play their third place match against Rwanda. While the finals match in the women\u2019s events will be played with South Africa against Morocco, the men\u2019s events finals will also be between South Africa against Morocco.<\/p>\n

Speaking after the match, Nigeria\u2019s wheelchair tennis coach, Frank Tarmina, \u201cWe have the quality of players and we came in to fight like a fighter like a player who is determined to win and we were unable to proceed to the final. Today (Saturday) the game is different.The players play to expectations in spite that they lost against a more stronger team.<\/p>\n

He however advised them not to lose guard as the race for the third spot is still available for grabs.<\/p>\n
