1,500 Participants To Compete For Honours At Oil And Gas Games

 

At least 1,500 athletes will participate at the 19th Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games (NOGIG) which will hold from 21st to 27th April, 2024 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

Chairman Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Games (NOGIG), Ifeyinwa Mojo-Eyes, said that over participants from 13 oil companies will compete in 13 sports.

Mojo-Eyes, who stated this during a pre-event press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, said the event is set to encourage wellness and sports for workers in the oil and gas industry to be productive as well as promote healthy living.

Participants are expected from of the companies NNPC, Shell,Total Energies,Nigeria content Development and monitoring Board (NCDMB), NMDPRA,Nigeria upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) ,

“ Others are ARADEL,OANDO,
Seplat,Nigeria Liquified National Gas (NLNG),Chevron ,PTI and Exxon Mobil Sports that will competed for are Athletics, Golf, Chess, Football,Table Tennis,Tennis,Squash,Badminton,
Swimming, Baskeball, Volleyball,
8-ball pool and Scrabble.

 

“The events will kick-off on Sunday at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja and it’s expected to end April 27, 2024. This is an event that we are looking forward to. The Games started in 1986 by then NNPC and Exxon Mobil now rebranded NNPC Limited.

“We progressed from the first edition with a game of Squash to now the 19th edition with 13 different sports from 13 companies.”

She also added that the Ministers of Sports Development and that of FCT, Senator John Owan Enoh and Nyesom Wike respectively are part of top government functionaries expected at the Games.
