The championship, which will feature 16 teams from various estates in Abuja, promises to deliver exciting football action and provide a platform for young players to showcase their talents.
This was announced during the press conference held on Saturday in Abuja .
Speaking at the event, Sean Pablo , the Technical Director, said that the 16 teams will be divided into four groups, competing in group matches, quarterfinals, semifinals, third-place matches, and the final.
“ The 16 teams will be divided into four groups of four teams each, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout stages.
“ The knockout stages will consist of quarterfinals, semifinals, third-place matches, and the finals.
“Participants will compete for prize money, trophies, medals, certificates, and recognition for the top three teams,” he said.
According to him, the tournament will take place at the National Stadium Package B in Abuja, with the finals scheduled to hold at Package A.
The matches will be played on Saturdays and Sundays, with the grand finale taking place on March 30, 2025.
“ Currently, 12 teams from 12 estates in Abuja have registered, with four more teams expected to complete the lineup within the next two months.
“ The registered team including Prime estate,Games village estate,Prince and Princess Estate,Sunnyvale estate ,River park estate,Federal housing estate,City Gate estate ,Peace estate kubwa and Prince estate with four more teams expected to join.
“ Each team will consist of 20-22 players, totaling over 500 participants in the inaugural edition.
The event will also showcase a comprehensive sporting infrastructure, including medical, security, administrative, and publicity departments.
“ We are going to provide medical support and services to players and officials.
“ We would also ensure the safety and security of players, officials, and spectators, other administrative tasks and Publicity department will help to promoting the tournament through various media channels,” he said.
“We expect the tournament to be highly competitive, and we are looking forward to seeing the best teams and players in action.
“ This inaugural event promises to set a high standard for future tournaments, and its success will pave the way for the envisioned “FIFA Estates World Cup,” he said.
The competition will kicks off on February 22nd with matches scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
