As the 2023 general elections draws closer, the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) on Thursday support the counsel by President Muhammadu Buhari to the security agencies to exhibit professionalism and remain impartial in their conducts, describing it as a welcome development.
The opposition parties said Buhari had spent the past months reiterating his resolve to peacefully hand over power to his successor; hence, the security agencies to be saddled with various support services in next year’s poll must not let the president down.
In a statement made available to journalists, the CUPP Spokesperson, Ikenga Ugochinyere, said Buhari’s recent admonition to security agencies may be related to the failed attempt by the Department of Security Services to frame the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, of terrorism and the plan by some unscrupulous politicians to sack the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Yakubu Mahmood, and prevent the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System in the 2023 general election.
