City Football Club ( FC) of Abuja on Friday defeated Visting Malumfashi FC of Kastina 1-0 at the ongoing 2023/2024 Nigeria National league ( NNL).
The reports that the group D match was played at Area 10 old parade ground Football pitch in Abuja.
City FC have played five matches , won one, draw one and lose three and seventh on log table with four points.
While Malumfashi FC have played five matches and lost all and eighth on log table.
The game’s only goal was scored by Daniel Gotom the hosts ( City FC ) in the sixth minute of the encounter and was assist by Oscar Okoh.
In spite of the visitors aggressive play, They could not as well get the equaliser as the hosts held on tight at the rear.
All efforts by City FC to add to their lead were met with stiff resistance by the defenders of Malumfashi FC.The game ended 1-0.
Speaking after the match, Nnamdi Oriaku, the captain of City FC said that he was happy with the scoreline.
“ We have a good performance in the second half of the game but the attacking line of Malumfashi FC was tightened, we could not penetrate to add to our tally.
“ Malumfashi FC team are not a bad sides ,they came all out for us at the end of the game ,we were able to secured the maximum three points at home,” he said.
Our next match is against Jigawa Golden stars FC in January 2024.
“ The league is a marathon and teams have to fight for points every time out. So, we will in our next game fight to have the maximum points,” he said.
He said that the team did not start well and right now we are not in a good positioning on the log table.
“ We will continue to improve as the league progresses because we have more matches ahead .
“ We want our fans and supporter to continue to believe in us.and we are promising that before the league round off we will definitely be at the top,” he said.
The reports that in their next encounter Match Day 7, City FC will square up with
Jigawa Golden Sttars FC on Jan. 6, 2024. While Malumfashi FC will face Sokoto United FC on Jan. 6, 2024
