Giwa FC With Its Arrays Of Stars Is Back With A Victory Over Plateau United FC As Mighty Jets Int’l Also Emerge Winners In The Da Musa Giwa Memorial Matches

 

It was a great and memorable reunion of some sort for the Giwa Football Club fraternity with their fans and loved ones as Giwa FC and Plateau United FC rekindled their rivalry, this time around in a friendly memorial match to honour and celebrate the life well spent of Da Musa Giwa, the father of the great football stakeholder in Nigeria, Ambassador Chris Giwa.

The GSS Hwak Football Field, Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State was filled to capacity right from the first match between home team, Kuru All Stars and Mighty Jets International FC, in which the Mighty Jets Feeders won 2-0. Dominic Emmanuel and Nathaniel Aruwa got the goals for Mighty Jets one each in both halves.

In the second match of the day, Giwa Football Club should all and sundry that their imminent comeback to the league won’t be a fluke as they beat Plateau United Football Club 2-0.
Defender Akide Ibrahim got the first goal via a cross from the right by Amos Dadung Gyang, while Ocheme Edoh made it 2-0 from a lob that beat the Plateau United FC goalkeeper hollow.

The memorial matches witnessed by a mammoth crowd saw the Proprietor of Giwa FC and wife, Ambassador Chris Musa Giwa and Mrs Joy Giwa on ground. Other important dignitaries include the Plateau State Football Association Chairman, Hon. Dr. Suleiman Yahaya Kwande, who was the brain behind the match and kitted both Plateau United FC and Giwa FC for the memorable game, came alongside with all his Executive Board Members that included the 1st Vice Chairman, Ezra Simon Godit, 2nd Vice Chairman, Abu Patrick Pakwai, among others.
The former Chairman of the PFA, Hon. Sunday Samson Longbap and former Secretary, Larry Gowon were also there. Clergymen and Traditional Rulers were not left out as well. Politicians were also present, with the Transition Committee Chairman of Jos South LGA, Hon. Peter Vwang Dung, leading the pack.

It was a great reunion for Giwa FC and their fans after the match. It would be recalled that Giwa FC who were camped by the owner of the club Ambassador Chris Giwa in the hotel in preparation for this memorial match, had players like Friday Achmugu, Ibrahim Akide, Jimmy Ambrose, El-Shittu Lawal, Alkassim Mohammed, Saleh Mohammed, Kamaru Sikiru, Charles Henlong, Abubakar Ahmed, Amos Dadung Gyang, Moses Opitoke, Chinenye Agoha, Ocheme Edoh, Daniel Nnoke, Abdul Malik, Aliyu Zubairu, Sani Isyaku, Mubarak Sarumi, Sunday Omolade, Dan Bauchi, Alexi Christopher, Baba Garba, Shittu Abdulbasit, and Nojeem Raji(now a Coach), were all present for the match. Notable absence include: Super Eagles goalkeeper who couldn’t make it because of his unveiling by his new club, Al merriekh FC of Sudan, Olorunleke Ojo(MON), Saudi Arabia based Ibrahim Shuaibu, Asia based Alex Akinyemi, Europe based Ali Bala, among others.

Almost all the Coaches that have handled the club at one time or the other from the NNL to the NPFL were also present for the memorable memorial match to tinker their former club, Giwa FC to victory over Plateau United FC.Top notch coaches like: Coach Tony Bolus, Coach Solo, Coach Tony Ogaranduku, Coach Aminu Musa, Coach Babangida, among others were present. While the likes of Coach Kadiri Ikhana, Coach Gbenga Ogunbote, Coach Abdullahi Biffo, and Coach Duke Udi who were desperate to be on ground could not make it due to some serious engagement and circumstances beyond their control.

Ambassador Chris Giwa father, Da Musa Giwa will be laid to rest today at the family house in Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
