The senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, in the National Assembly, Ireti Kingibe, has said Nigeria government needs to take the welfare of youths as priority.
Kingibe, who stated this at the Abuja Charity Food Fiesta event which was held at the MKO Abiola National stadium, Abuja, said government’s policies have not been fair to the youths however urged the youths to always demand their rights saying they should not allow those in government to silence their voices.
Kingibe, who is one of the only four female senators in the 10th National Assembly, promised to partner with organisers of the 9ja Food Fiesta to empower the youths.
Mohammed Mustapha, the CEO 9ja Food Fiesta said the idea behind the event is to give back to society that has supported his journey so far.
“Our primary objective for this event is to train and empower youths and create new breadwinner for every household.
“The goal of the 9ja Food Fiesta is to bridge the gap between those who have the means to give and those who are in need. This event will serve as a catalyst for continuous support and engagement from individuals and the business with the community.
“Over 1,000 person have been trained in Abuja and the environment and we are already looking forward to next gathering. We will extend same gesture to all the 36 states in Nigeria,” Mustapha said.
