Nigerian music superstar Davido has won big after betting on Nigeria’s match against Tanzania at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025.
He placed a $25,000 bet (approximately N36 million) on both teams to score, and Tanzania to equalize at exactly 50 minutes. The bet paid off as Nigeria won 2-1, with Davido pocketing $96,564 (around N140 million).
The Nigeria vs Tanzania match was a thrilling encounter, with Semi Ajayi scoring for Nigeria in the 36th minute, Charles M’Mombwa equalizing for Tanzania at 50 minutes, and Ademola Lookman scoring the winner for Nigeria in the 52nd minute .
Davido’s bold bet has sparked reactions on social media, with fans praising his football instincts and others joking about his wealth. This isn’t Davido’s first high-stakes bet on the Super Eagles; he previously staked $10,000 on Nigeria to win and both teams to score against Gabon, although they lost that match .
