The Chief Operating Officer of the Nationwide League One (NLO), Shola Ogunnowo, has described the third-tier of Nigerian football as pool of talents that can contribute positively to the national teams saying there must be something new that will improve in the league (NLO) every season.
Speaking at the official league season kick off ceremony at Bwari Stadium Abuja, Ogunnowo expressed optimism that the league will bring a lot of positives at the end of the day.
“I am just happy that what we have started this season and it will pay off at the end of the day because so many positives have been coming out from the league this year. The exceptional technology for players’ registration is designed to streamline the safety and the security of our players.
“This is the beautiful thing we can do and that’s one of the things that is making me happy in the league because my responsibility is not just to gather results, not just to gather quality measures on the field of play but at the same time to guide the clubs and I have the responsibility as well to counsel the club..
“Most of the advice we gave to the clubs they are already working with them and these are the results we are seeing here today. Likeminds Football Club have been in the league from sometime now. You can see the level of play and all their players. They did very well, you can not push any players out on that field of play. The Hyperbuzz Football Academy as well are new teams and you can see exceptionally talents in their team and everybody saw their captain.
“And the General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation,Mohammed Sanusi told me that ‘Shola had it been that we have not submitted the final list of under 20, this boy will surely make team happy with the standard of play. This is were under 17, under 20 should be coming out from’. And if the General Secretary can say that in just a game in the season and we have over 2,600 games then certainly the national team coaches are missing a lot by not visiting NLO matches and that’s where the talents are bounds.
“My joy is that they have come here today to display their talents and the whole Nigeria have seen it.”
