A new football academy known has KMK Foundation Academy has berthed in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital.
The Academy is set for a big feat in the football sector in the Akwa Ibom State in particular and Nigeria in general.
The Director and Chief Executive Officer of the KMK Foundation Academy, Mr Kingsley Morrison told the Spokesman Sports recently that he is committed to raise and develop the KMK players to an enviable heights.
He disclosed that the academy has football agents all over the country and beyond and is seriously preparing the kids for a team tour outside Nigeria.
Morrison said the Academy berth last year when the foundation hosted Senate President’s Cup in Abuja and the young talents discovered from the competition propelled him to establish the club.
He noted that KMK Foundation Academy is focused on helping young talented Nigerian youth to actualize their full potentialities in football by grooming and positioning them for both national and international competitions.
He the academy has come to stay in the state and commited to sending the players abroad for exploit.
The Director hinted that the club has secured a slot from NLO whereby the thirty players in the nominal roll of the club would feature.
On the collaboration with the State Football Association, Mr Morrison stated, “I am lucky to have the FA Chairman, Mr Samuel Umoh as my very good friend. He has a very good heart and has been supportive to our Academy. We have a good affiliation with him and the Board members of the State’s FA”
He added that KMK Foundation Academy is not just about football club, as he intends to impact positively on the lives of youths and take the young ones out of the streets to explore their talents.
The KMK Director stated that the club as part of its programmes is embarking on series of friendly football matches with top clubs within and outside the state and also undertake scouting programmes in all the geopolitical zones of the country to give the players the needed exposure.
He said the Academy is ready to train the players and prepare them for future and added that the academy is building a standard stadium in Uyo to provide good training ground for his boys.
According to him, the team is planning to participate in a competition in Spain ,Denmark and other countries for further exposure in football.
He maintained that the players are adapting gradually to tactical approaches and expressed the optimism that they would give the team their best.
General Manager of KMK, Hon John Ekpenyong said KMK Foundation Academy has come to stay, saying that the NLO slot is to keep the boys going and make them have a competitive atmosphere.
He said, he will use his experience in the football industry to promote and develop the academy.
