The President of the Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN), Silas Agara, has hailed the country’s outstanding performance at the 2025 African Karate Championship in Abuja. Team Nigeria’s medal haul has surpassed previous records, showcasing the country’s growing prowess in the sport.
Nigeria’s previous best was one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal in a continental championship.
The team has won a significant number of medals, with athletes competing impressively against the world’s best.
The championship features 31 countries, including Egypt, which has sent its top 10 athletes.
-Agara emphasized the need to groom cadets and juniors to replace aging athletes and ensure the sport’s continued growth.
Nigeria has the capacity and facilities to host international events, including world championships.
Agara thanked the Federal Government and the National Sports Commission (NSC) for their support in hosting a successful championship.
