Plateau United Under-19 Team proved bookmakers right as they emerge champions of the refurbished Plateau State Super League.
The Ehis Ediale tutored side defeated Y-Star Football Academy 3-1 at the final to emerge champions.
Football stakeholders like the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Hon. Musa Ashoms, Commissioner for water resources and power, Hon. Bashir Lawandi Datti, former Chairman of JUTH fc, Dr. Ishaya Pam, and former Commissioner For Youths And Sports, Hon. Victor Lapang, all commended the present Board of Plateau State Football Association led by Prince Hon.Suleiman Yahaya Kwande for the positive energy put in place in reviving football at the grassroots.
Meanwhile, the Chairman, Plateau State Internal Revenue Service, Hon. Jim Pam Wayas, has promised not to make it a one off thing: “We are going to harness and export the potentials seen here. We Keep supporting grassroots football to make sure that sports development is truly seen and appreciated in the State. The idea is that the Ministry of Youth and Sports is to see how we are going to have continious running of such programs and many more. And couple with the fact that the Executive Governor of Plateau State interest is in sports and youth development is huge and we as a body can’t take this for granted.”
According to the Plateau State Football Association Chairman, Prince Hon Suleiman Yahaya Kwande: “Financing was tasking but despite that we still collected meagre amount of money for registration. Hence, I met the Chairman of Inland Revenue and he’s gracious enough to co-sponsor the tournament with us. And we are really very grateful for that”.
Kwande concluded: “We are satisfied with how things panned out to be. For the first time in many years, we are seeing teams from other local government areas playing in the Super Leagues
