The North Central Zone of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has formally endorsed Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo for re-election as President of the Council for another four-year term ahead of the forthcoming National Elective Congress scheduled for later this month.
The endorsement was announced during a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday by State Chairmen from Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Plateau, Niger, Nasarawa, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Speaking on behalf of the zonal leaders, Comr. Damina Solomon John, Chairman of the Nasarawa State Chapter of NYCN, explained that the decision was driven by the need for continuity and consolidation of Sukubo’s remarkable strides in youth development, national cohesion, and nation-building.
According to him, Amb. Sukubo has consistently demonstrated the capacity to drive transformative change and provide effective representation for Nigerian youth at the national stage.
The youth leaders noted that his leadership has been characterized by impactful initiatives and programs that have touched the lives of young Nigerians across the country. They expressed strong confidence that his re-election would not only sustain these efforts but also amplify the voices of Nigerian youth.
“We are delighted to declare our collective resolve to support and endorse Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo for re-election as President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria,” the leaders stated.
“His passion, energy, and commitment to youth development make him the ideal candidate for this position. Under his dynamic leadership, NYCN has become more effective, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of Nigerian youth.”
Highlighting key achievements under Sukubo’s tenure, the Chairmen pointed to:
Empowerment initiatives through education, skill development, and entrepreneurship.
Promotion of youth participation in governance and decision-making.
Strategic partnerships with stakeholders to advance youth development.
Personal sacrifices, including the use of his own resources to drive impactful initiatives.
In a show of solidarity, the North Central NYCN leaders also appealed to the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, as well as state governments in the zone, to support Sukubo’s re-election bid.
They further called on all stakeholders to rally behind his leadership to ensure a smooth and successful elective congress.
“For someone who has selflessly demonstrated deep love and unwavering commitment to Nigerian youth, it is only fitting that we support and re-elect him to consolidate and expand his laudable achievements,” the statement concluded.
