The delegates to this year’s Nigeria Volleyball Federation annual general meeting massively stood out to support Engineer Musa Nimrod’s presidential candidature at the Indoor Sports Hall, Package B of Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
“We want Nimrod” thus chanted some members of the Volleyball Federation board. Stakeholders were not left out in the slogan that rented the air at the Indoor Sports Hall soon after the incumbent Nimrod was nominated as candidate for the presidential election to the federation’s board.
The electoral board members including the accredited delegates massively supported Nimrod’s nomination.
All the elected 16 members of the board voted for Nimrod to continue his good work for the second term.
“We are one family, and we will continue to work together as one to take Volleyball to the next phase in this country. We’re going to focus well on the grassroots development; that aspect of the grassroots development has helped us grow the sport a lot.
Aside from the sponsors that we have, many more have indicated interest to be part of our programme in the development of this game, and they would be given the opportunity to come in.
Also, we have numerous international tournaments to shape the skills of our players, and this is where some of our partners would be very much needed as we would not shift all the financial burden on the shoulders of the government. After our inauguration; especially for our new members, we’ll hit the ground running because we have many projects that we are going to execute even before the end of this year. There are many youth programmes and we’re going to crown the programme with the Africa Games in Angola”, thus said Engineer Musa Nimrod while fielding questions from the reporters after he was declared winner of the election where he was the sole candidate.
Ambassador Prince Tunde Omisore, who was also the sole candidate for the position of the first vice president, polled 15 votes as one of the electoral board members abstained from the election.
Tenimu and Nkechi slugged it out for the second vice presidential election with the former polling nine of the 16 votes cast as Nkechi got seven votes.
