Nigeria Out Of 2026 Cricket World Cup Race After Clash With Kenya

The Nigeria Men’s Cricket team on Tuesday in Harare, lost by 7 wickets to Kenya, dropping to 3rd place on Group A table. The defeat marks the end of the road for the West African cricket giant quest for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2026.

Nigeria batted first against Kenya and scored 147 runs after 20 overs. The Yellow Greens lost 7 wickets in the 1st inning. Nigeria’s total tally was largely contributed by Sulaimon Runsewe and captain Sylvester Okpe, who played 27 and 26 runs, respectively.

Kenya chased the target with ease as Rakep Patel and Sachin Bhudia scored 53 and 57 runs to make Kenya a total score of 148 runs for loss of 3 wickets at 13.4 overs.

Sachin Bhudia won the Player of the Match Award as Nigeria will file out against Botswana for a ranking match on October 2, 2025.
