COCIN LCC Hwolshe Wins Plateau Christian Cup

The final of the Plateau Christian Cup took place on Sunday 26th October 2025, at Rochas School football field, The match saw COCIN Hwolshe defeating  ECWA Bishara Two Jenta Adamu 1-0 to emerged champions of the second edition.

Ten teams  featured in the tournament from various churches and ministries across the State.

The Plateau Christian Cup is organized by the Lighthouse Rescue Sports Outreach (LRSO) to engage youths from various churches in Plateau State through sports.

Hon. Minister, FMYSD and representative of President Muhammadu Buhari, Mr. Sunday Dare performing the ceremonial Tee-off of the 59th Independence Golf Tournament at the IBB International Golf & Country Club, Abuja.

Speaking to journalists, the CEO of LRSO, Godfrey Bottson, said that he is happy with the way the tournament is organized.

“The project manager and technical director did a very good job.

“It was peaceful throughout; even players from the domestic league in Nigeria came down to represent their respective churches.A presentation of a gold plaque golfer to H.E, President Muhammad Buhari as the Grand Patron of the Club and also for performing the historic ceremonial Tee-off today, sat. 28 Sept, 2019 to mark Nigeria's 59th Independence in Abuja.

The project manager of the Plateau Christian Cup, Chioji Bot, described the tournament as a very good one and fulfilling, and said this year’s edition has seen a massive improvement.

He further said that the idea behind this initiative is to groom men and women who are in sports, and also for churches to own sports ministries.

Tongkit Raymond of Cocin Hwolshe scored the only goal in the 66th minute; he also won the Best Behaved Player award.

Former Plateau United player Gyang Amos from ECWA Bishara Two won the Highest Goal Scorer award, while Gobum Rotduwe of Might Jets won the Best Goalkeeper award.

The two finalists will now represent Plateau State in the Nigeria Christian Cup.
