Customs Boss Adeniyi Supports Nigerian Wrestlers With Bus Donation

The President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF), Dr. Bashir Adeniyi, has gifted a brand-new bus to the national wrestling team to support their transportation needs.

The donation was made during a visit to the team’s training camp at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja, where athletes are preparing for the Islamic Solidarity Games in Saudi Arabia.

  1. Adeniyi, who is also the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), described the bus as a token of appreciation for the athletes’ hard work and a step towards improving their welfare. He recalled a tragic accident involving the team last year, which claimed lives and left their vehicle damaged, as the inspiration behind the donation.

“I made a promise to replace the vehicle to ease the Federation’s transportation challenges,” he said. “This bus is a symbol of my commitment to supporting our athletes and providing better facilities for them.”

Adeniyi interacted with the wrestlers and coaching staff, urging them to uphold Nigeria’s image with integrity and fair play. “We want to win with honor and dignity,” he said. “Compete clean, win clean, and make Nigeria proud.”

The NWF President expressed confidence in the future of Nigerian wrestling, citing the emergence of young talents. He pledged to provide better welfare packages, exposure, and long-term support for athletes, including opportunities for coaching, officiating, and sports administration.

Adeniyi also announced plans to extend similar initiatives to other sports bodies, emphasizing the role of sports in youth empowerment and national development. He encouraged the wrestlers to remain focused and disciplined as they prepare for international competition.
