Excitement Peaks as Game On Afrika Grand Finale Kicks Off in Imo — Nwankwo Charges Players to Shine

The atmosphere is electric in Obowo, Imo State, as the curtain rises on the grand finale of the 2025 Game On Afrika Tournament this weekend.

The Chief Executive Officer of the competition, Prince Emeka Nwankwo, expressed his excitement ahead of the much-anticipated showdown, urging all participating teams to give their best as the tournament reaches its climax.

The decisive stages of the championship will hold on Friday, November 14, and Saturday, November 15, at the Okenalogho Technical School, Obowo. Teams representing Abuja, Imo, Enugu, and Lagos will vie for top honours in the semi-final and final matches.

The semi-finals are slated for Friday at 2:00 p.m., while the winners will lock horns in the grand finale on Saturday. The eventual champion will be crowned the Nigeria GOAT (Greatest of All Time) and will earn the right to face the Ghana GOAT in a continental faceoff ahead of the 2026 Game on Afrika UK Tour.

Speaking ahead of the climax, Prince Nwankwo commended the players and coaches for their determination and consistency throughout the competition.

“This tournament is more than a contest — it’s a celebration of young African talent,” he said. “Every kick, every pass, and every goal tells the story of our continent’s resilience and creativity. What gives me joy is seeing how this platform is shaping future champions and connecting cultures through sports.”

Nwankwo reaffirmed that Game on Afrika remains deeply committed to grassroots sports development and youth empowerment, emphasizing that the initiative was created to discover and nurture young talents across the continent.

“Our mission is to develop the next generation of African stars,” he added. “When these players step onto the pitch, they’re not just representing their states — they’re representing the future of African excellence.”

Fans from across Nigeria are expected to throng Obowo for what promises to be a thrilling two-day football spectacle, showcasing the finest young talents and celebrating the spirit of African unity through sport.
