Nigeria’s star striker Victor Osimhen is set to undergo an MRI scan after suffering a suspected hamstring injury during the World Cup playoff final against DR Congo. Osimhen was substituted at halftime in the match, which Nigeria lost 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regular time.

The severity of the injury is yet to be determined, but Galatasaray’s medical team will conduct a thorough assessment upon Osimhen’s return to Istanbul. The club’s doctors will evaluate the injury and outline a recovery plan for the player.

Osimhen’s absence could be a significant blow to Galatasaray, especially with the upcoming derby against Fenerbahce on December 1. The player’s participation in the match is uncertain, pending the outcome of the MRI scan.

Galatasaray is scheduled to face Genclerbirligi in the Super Lig on Saturday, and Osimhen’s availability for the match remains to be seen. Nigerian fans are also anxiously awaiting news on Osimhen’s fitness ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where the team is set to face Tanzania on December.
