Daniel Ogunmodede, the Super Eagles assistant coach and former head coach of Remo Stars, has been instructed to step back from his role with the club and focus on the national team until after the AFCON. According to a source close to the club, Ogunmodede has been told “not to bother with the team for now” and to prioritize his duties with the Super Eagles.
This development comes after Remo Stars issued a statement denying speculations that Ogunmodede had been sacked. The club is currently ninth in the NPFL standings with 22 points from 16 matches, trailing leaders Nasarawa United by eight points.
Some observers have suggested that Ogunmodede’s role with the Super Eagles may have become a distraction for him, potentially impacting his performance with Remo Stars. The club’s recent struggles, including their early exit from the CAF Champions League, may have contributed to this decision.
It remains to be seen how Ogunmodede’s reduced involvement with Remo Stars will affect the club’s performance in the NPFL. With the AFCON looming, Ogunmodede’s focus on the national team is likely to take center stage.
