The Nigerian Military announced this during a press briefing at the MKO Abiola Stadium, where Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa and the technical team expressed readiness to host a top-tier sporting event.
The opening and closing ceremonies will feature performances from artists such as Olamide, D’banji, Timi Dakolo, and Ice Prince, creating a festive atmosphere. Organizers stated that all participating nations needed to arrive by Tuesday, with Nigeria joining the 25 countries in a variety of track and field events. Most competitions will be held at the MKO Abiola Stadium, while shooting events will be hosted at the 177 Guards Battalion.
General Musa noted that Nigeria is fielding over 474 athletes, and excitement is high with expectations of significant attendance. The previous edition, held in Nairobi 22 years ago, saw 21 nations participate. Upgrades and renovations to facilities have been completed to ensure athlete performance.
Collaboration with sports federations is underway, with officials serving as judges and referees. Anti-doping measures will be in place to guarantee fair competition. Transportation will be arranged to the stadium, and 2,500 members of the Supporters Club will be on hand to encourage the teams. The Armed Forces of Nigeria is fully equipped to deliver an exceptional sporting experience.
The festivities will blend culture with military displays, showcasing various national sports cultures, and inviting residents from Abuja and nearby areas to join in the celebration
