Former Nigeria International Tijani Babangida has urged the Super Eagles of Nigeria to put up a fight for their game against Palancras Negras of Angola at the on going Nations Cup in Ivory Coast.
Speaking in a chat with Gongnews.net Babangida said with what he has seen from the Super Eagles so far at the tournament the Angola cannot stand on our way to the finals he said, “but with what i saw they can’t stand on our way that is what I am sure of the boys have shown that they are great fighter and i want them to continue fighting till they lift the cup” he said.
The former Ajax Amsterdam of Holland player, is sure the team is fired up to succeed and he just want to urge them to continue to fight in their remaining matches at the AFCON, Tijani Babangida concluded
It will be recalled that Angola stopped Nigeria to make their single appearance at the FIFA World Cup finals in 2006, when they won 1-0 in Luanda and held the Eagles 1-1 in Kano to edge the head-to-head contest that was the determining factor for the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualification series.
The winner of Friday’s encounter will square up with the winner of the clash between Cape Verde’s Blue Sharks and South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in one of the semi final matches, at the Stade de la Paix in Bouake.
