The President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation ( NVBF), Musa Nimrod, has charged the players to improve their performance towards podium finishing ahead of Paris 2024.
The NVBF boss made the call at the closing ceremony of the 2023 open beach volleyball Star/Tour final phase which started on February 5, and ended on February 10, 2024 at Jabi Lake Volleyball Games Village Abuja.
According to Nimrod, the first phase started with 24 teams, then proceeded to second phase with 12 teams and while nine teams eventually ended the tour. He added that it is the first time the beach volleyball is being test run in three phase Tour.
“This is the first time in Africa that three phase Tour is been done. No any others Africa countries have done it and Nigeria have achieved it today (Saturday). We now have two set of tour, stars tour and open tour. The open tour is meant for new entrants and the stars tour is meant for premier league.
“I want to congratulate the players who had participated in all the tours and gave their best. We are not relenting in all our efforts to pick the tickets for Paris 2024, as camping is starting in two cities across the federation,” he said.
He also expressed confidence in the ability of the team to qualify for the 2024 Paris adding that camp will be opened for the players on February 15 in Abuja and Badagry.
“I want to challenge the coaches, technical crew and the players that we are already on board to go to Morocco’s to pick the qualifiers. The only tickets to Paris 2024. We have missed it twice but this time by the grace of God Nigeria will not miss it,” he said.
