The Benue State Football Stakeholders Forum most heartily felicitate with His Excellency, Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, on this auspicious occasion of the commemoration of his One Year in Office as the Executive Governor of Benue State.
We are, indeed, bereft of words to express how proud we are to identify with you because your pragmatic, visionary and unwavering commitment to progress have in no time redefined governance in Benue state.
Your Excellency, it is truly amazing how in the face of relentless distractions and limited funds, you have audaciously embarked on numerous projects that are not only unprecedented but have positively impacted on the lives of the citizenry.
Apart from the peace that has returned to Benue State, your transparent utilisation of scarce resources has resucitated civil servants and retirees who had become hopeless as a result of non payment of their salaries and pension. In addition, no day passes without the flagging off of major road constructions across the state.
From a once glorified village, your midas touch has drastically transformed the face of Makurdi, the state capital that was enveloped by perperual darkness due to lack of electricity and street lights. Makurdi no glitters at night. No wonder, ‘Yes Father’ has continued to resonate with the teeming populace in Benue who have since admitted that you are the long awaited messiah.
Most importantly, as major stakeholders in the sports sector, we are happy to celebrate with you because you have also demonstrated uncommon support for sports development especially the game of football. At the moment, grassroots football is thriving at a fast pace in the state because of the enabling environment your administration has provided for the youths to pursue their dreams in all spheres of life. Benue is becoming the hub of grassroots football.
We also wish to seize this opportunity to appeal to His Excellency, the number one supporter of Sports in Benue State, to please approve funds for the renovation of the Aper Aku Stadium, the famous JS Tarka Stadium, Vandeikya Township and Otukpo Township Stadium to engender grassroots sports development in the three Senatorial Zones.
We can not end this congratulatory message without acknowledging your enormous support to the state owned Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Lobi Stars of Makurdi. Without a doubt, the club is one of the most motivated in the NPFL as it has consistently enjoyed steady flow of allocation from your government. Only recently, you released a whopping N159million to the management of the club to boost the morale of the players and their officials. If tomorrow, Lobi Stars fail to deliver the goods, it won’t be for lack of adequate government support.
Your Excellency, time and space won’t permit us to enumerate all that you have done in just one year to change the narrative in Benue, which used to be the laughing stock among the states in Nigeria. It is, therefore, not surprising that today, you are winning awards left, right and centre, as one of the Best Performinng Governors in the country.
On this note, we members of the Benue State Football Stakeholders solemnly reaffirm our commitment to supporting your visionary leadership. Together, we shall continue to strive for excellence and prosperity of Benue State.
