Dare Adesomo, coach of Kicker Football Club, a Division 2 side based in Abuja says the primary purpose of friendly matches is not solely to win or achieve a specific result, but rather to provide opportunities for players.
speaking to journalist in Abuja Dare highlighted the significance of friendly matches in developing his team’s skills.
He said that the friendly matches are a crucial part of the development process, using to test our players, identify weaknesses, and work on our strategy.
According to him , We have played several friendly games against top opponents, including the National Under-20 team, Flying Eagles, City FC, and EFCC FC,Football club Sarkin Daji and although we lost all these matches.
He also emphasized that the losses were not discouraging, but rather an opportunity to learn and grow.
“ This friendly match have help my players to gain experience,
develop their skills,Improve teamwork among the players and test strategies.
“ I believe they have been instrumental in helping us gain the experience and confidence needed to perform well in upcoming tournaments.
“In essence, friendly matches are used to prepare and develop players, rather than just focusing on winning.
“ This approach have helps build a strong foundation for future competitions for my team,”he said.
He said friendly matches are not just about results, but about player development.
He noted that these matches have helped identify areas for improvement and given young players valuable experience.
“We are working hard to build a solid team that can compete at the highest level,” he added.
He added that Kicker FC is eyeing participation in the AMAC Coaches Council Football Tournament and State League, scheduled for May.
He expressed optimism about his team’s prospects, saying, “I am confident that we will make a strong showing in these competitions.

As Kicker FC Abuja aims to establish itself as a competitive force in Nigerian football and upcoming tour in Europe.
