CAF Women’s CL : Nigeria’s Rivers Angels To Play In Group B

Nigeria’s representative in the maiden CAF Women’s Champions League, Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt have been drawn in group B along clubs from Ghana and Niger.
According to the draw ceremony held on Monday and supervised by WAFU administrative secretary Boureima Balima yesterday, Rivers Angels will meet Hasaacas Ladies FC of Ghana and AS Police of Niger in the group B of the zonal qualifiers which comes up in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire from July 17 to 30.
While in Group A, Onze Soeurs de Gagnoa, who are representing the host nation, Cote d’Ivoire were pitched against Union Sportive des forces Armees of Burkina Faso and Amis du Monde Football Club of Togo.
With the six participating teams split into two groups of three, the two top sides will progress to the last four of the competition, with the winners of those knockout semi-final matches to slug it out in the final.
The final match will be decided in Egypt later on in the year according to CAF.
The top two teams from each CAF Zone and the host of the final tournament (Egypt) as well as one extra team from the Zone holding the title of the previous Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (2018) will qualify to the final tournament.
The CAF Women’s Champions League competition is a new competition introduced by CAF to develop women’s football product in Africa.
