CAVB/NVBF To Honour Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu Today

The Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) and the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) will today honour the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her outstanding contributions to the development of volleyball in the country.

The announcement was made by Engineer Musa Nimrod, President of the CAVB Beach Volleyball Commission, during an interview with journalists at the 2025 CAVB Beach Volleyball U18 Continental Championship taking place at Jabi Lake, Abuja.

Nimrod praised Senator Tinubu’s support, particularly during the 2025 Africa Club Championship hosted in Nigeria, where she graced both the opening and closing ceremonies, serving as a powerful morale booster for young female athletes.

He said, “Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu played a huge role in supporting the game of volleyball, especially during the Africa Club Championship.

“Her attendance at the ceremonies uplifted the morale of the girl-child and showed that their efforts are being recognized at the highest levels.”

He also highlighted the positive impact of the Renewed Hope Initiative, championed by the First Lady, in inspiring young athletes across the country.

Nimrod said, “Our teams have shown remarkable discipline, strength, and patriotism. These results are not by chance—they are the outcome of years of planning, investment, and unwavering support from key stakeholders, most especially the First Lady.

“That is why we made her our Patron. She has become a beacon of encouragement for our young girls and boys. This honour is our way of saying ‘thank you’ for believing in the potential of Nigerian youth.”

Nimrod further noted that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has brought a renewed sense of hope and energy into the Nigerian sports sector, particularly for youth development.

Meanwhile, all is set for an all-Nigerian clash in the girls’ final of the championship as Nigeria I faces Nigeria II at 3pm today at Jabi Lake, Abuja.
