City FC Proprietor Chidi, To Build Mini Stadium In Abuja

By Oluwole Francis

Chidi Okonkwo, Chairman of City FC Abuja, is focused on building a mini stadium in Abuja to support the team’s growth and success.

Chidi aims to build a mini stadium within the next two to three years, citing Remo Stars’ world-class facilities as an inspiration. He believes having a dedicated stadium will enable City FC to compete at the highest level.

City FC faces financial challenges, relying on its own resources to operate.

“He emphasizes the importance of careful planning and strategic player transfers to generate funds for the club’s development.

The club plans to transfer one or two players each season to generate funds, ensuring its sustainability and growth.

City FC’s friendly match against Nasarawa United helped gauge their readiness for the upcoming season. Okonkwo acknowledges that the team still has work to do before the season starts in October.

While City FC’s promotion to the Nigeria National League (NNL) is a step in the right direction, Okonkwo prioritizes building a strong foundation over rushing to the Premier League. Having a dedicated stadium is crucial to this vision.

By focusing on infrastructure development and careful financial planning, City FC Abuja aims to establish itself as a competitive force in Nigerian football.
