Chief Operating Officer of the Nationwide League One (NLO), Olushola Ogunnowo has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) for recognizing his contributions to Nigerian football.
He credits his success to constructive criticism from journalists, admitting that their feedback helped shape his leadership approach and redirect his decisions.
At the SWAN 60th-anniversary celebration in Abuja, Ogunnowo was honored for his dedication to the sport. He humbly acknowledged that the recognition was not solely his achievement, but rather a result of the collective efforts of his team and the media.
“ The feedback from journalists often redirected his decisions and contributed to his success in football administration.
“ They might not give me direct instructions, but their reports and opinions always pointed me in the right direction and that has brought me great results.
Ogunnowo also paid tribute to his mentors, including His Royal Highness Al-Hassan Yakmut and Dr. Tijani Yusuf, who played significant roles in his early days at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
He described the recognition as humbling and inspiring, and expressed appreciation for the media’s role in his professional growth
