Customs Boss pledges Bigger, Better CGC Volleyball Premier League In 2025

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, has assured stakeholders and volleyball enthusiasts that the 2025 edition of the CGC Volleyball Premier League will surpass previous editions in quality, organisation, and reward for players.

The Customs boss stated this during an interview session at the venue of the ongoing CAVB Beach Volleyball U18 Continental Championship in Abuja on Monday.

Adeniyi emphasized the Customs Service’s commitment to continuous improvement and aligning with international standards.

He said, “If we have done the CGC Volleyball Premier League in 2024, we want to do it better in 2025.

“We want to make sure that we put up a better show in terms of coordination, technical quality, and hopefully in terms of the prize money for the players.”

He noted that the NCS regularly participates in international volleyball championships and is keen to replicate global best practices locally.

According to him, the goal is not just to host a competition, but to deliver a professional-standard league that provides a strong platform for local talent.

He said, “We want to match the international standard because we attend international championships and see what is obtainable in those places.

“It is our hope and we will work with the Nigeria Volleyball Federation to ensure that we deliver a very successful league that will meet international standards.”

The Nigeria Customs Service entered a partnership with the Nigeria Volleyball Federation in 2024, as winners of the Premier League smiled home with N5 million, second position with N3 million, while third place won N2 million.
